Bolthouse Academic Center

Goal: $35 Million

The new Bolthouse Academic Center will provide a stately new home for four academic schools and departments. Sitting at the edge of campus facing Ohio State Route 72, this facility will represent our commitment to academic excellence with a gorgeous classical design. Classrooms and faculty offices are the heart of this building, providing contexts for intentional discipleship as our world-class faculty prepare our students to engage the culture for Christ.

The first-floor lobby will welcome students and guests with a breathtaking rotunda featuring a 84’ tall dome. An additional coffee shop and Grab-n-Go station will make the commons areas and collaboration rooms especially attractive to students. Six sizable classrooms on this floor will house core academic courses in which our students will learn to think deeply and broadly. Additionally, the first level will be home to the Center for Political Studies and offices for the Dean of Education and Social Work and the Dean for Arts and Humanities.

The second floor will house the School of Education and Social Work and the Department of Psychology. Both academic units will benefit from centralized offices where students will receive mentoring during faculty office hours. Graduates from these programs are in high demand, and they make an impact on some of society’s most vulnerable populations. Psychology students will have access to a specialized research, statistics, and observation labs in the Bolthouse Academic Center, allowing them first-hand experience with developing ethical, Christ-honoring experiments to better understand the mind.

Faculty from the Department of History and Government and the Department of English, Literature, and Modern Languages will be housed on the third floor. These classical academic programs are crucial to Cedarville’s liberal arts core. They help us equip students to communicate and think well through general education courses like Composition, Politics and American Culture, and more. Our faculty are committed to being biblically grounded, academically rigorous, and ideologically conservative in their approach to engaging culture.

Will you join us in strengthening our academic core with a world-class facility?

Echoing Christ’s words in Matt. 22:36–37, the School of Arts and Humanities encourages students to love God with all their minds so they are equipped to love their neighbors as themselves. The new Academic Center will be where transformed minds are cultivated — in classrooms, offices, and common spaces that enrich and inspire.
Mark Caleb Smith, PhD, Dean, School of Arts and Humanities

It will be remarkable when facilities used by dedicated faculty and staff align with the level of excellence taking place within the building. As prospective families visit, they will receive a first impression that accurately reflects the dedication, work ethic, love, and care evident in every class, group meeting, and one-on-one student advising session.
